In me and my brothers search for beginner guitar lessons we went online looking for free lessons and a free chord book. We wanted something that was not cheesy and put together by real professional musicians.

There were a lot of just okay beginner guitar lessons and quite a few video guitar lessons. Most are by people learning to play or showing chords they learned. We wanted something better than the mush we were seeing. And, none really gave good step-by-step lessons that were easy to follow.

Then we found a guy named Jon Coursey. He was a drummer in a Jazz school and he too wanted to learn guitar. He picked up on the chords and strumming pretty quickly on his own.

But, he wanted more. He wanted to play like a pro. He happened to have a professional guitarist friend who gave him a hand with beginner guitar lessons. And Jon got darn good. He taught Jon the guitar basics and also taught him the open position minor and major chords.

Then, Jon’s friend told him that he next needed to learn scales. Jon explained how difficult it was to learn scales and even said his fingers and brain would freeze up and malfunction. Jon’s friend explained that every guitarist including himself had to grunt it out through learning scales. Jon said he wanted to give up and quit. He asked his friend if there were beginner guitar lessons that could be taught in a better and easier way.

Jon and his friend thought there just had to be a better way to learn guitar faster and easier. They then set out to create beginner guitar lessons with step-by-step instructions in a very simple and straight-forward manner. They wanted video beginner guitar lessons that didn’t make beginners lost and frustrated. These lessons had to make learning guitar fun in addition to fast and easy. Did Jon and his friend succeed in finding an easy, fast and fun way of combining theory of guitar basics with learning practical skills?

Yes, Jon and his friend did. They collaborated with many excellent guitar professionals and filmed lessons and wrote a learning guitar course.
